Sacoa presents touchscreen debit card reader.

Debit card system supplier Sacoa has introduced a new, unique touchscreen debit card reader. The new Touch ’n Play display reader introduces one of the most advanced displays on the market, according to Sacoa. Creators of this new reader say it is larger, brighter and supports a richer functionality, while the touchscreen allows it to interact with customers in ways previously unattainable.

“You can now run interactive sponsored quiz or skill games directly on the reader, awarding discounts for the play or direct prize awards,” reports Sacoa. “In fact, you create a game within the game. You can also allow customers to select different options and/or prices for midway games and more, all of this on top of the ability to illuminate the housing with static hues, marquee animations, crawling rainbows, ‘breathing’ effects and other features. This incredibly capable unit makes the crediting-up of a game part of the fun.” To learn more, log on to www.playcard.com.ar.

Latest Sacoa Playcard Installations

Following in the footsteps of the 2008 twin deployments in El Paso and Memphis, Sacoa Playcard has now installed its
true-wireless system in two new locations opened by America's Incredible Pizza Company during the summer of 2009:

Urbandale, IA (opened July 5th) and Indianapolis, IN (opened July 23rd). Each of these locations now use the Sacoa Playcard system for managing their F&B sales, redemption counter and wireless operation of over 100 games each.
Sebastian Mochkovsky, Sacoa's Director of Sales, indicated he was very pleased with AIPC's decision to continue installing the Sacoa system in their upcoming locations, after a false start with a different card system in the past.
Earlier in the summer, Sacoa's wireless Playcard system was also installed at Corvette Diner's new location. Cohn Restaurant Group’s first restaurant concept moved to San Diego’s Historic Liberty Station after 22 years in the Hillcrest community. The new location, with seating for 242 guests, is twice the size of the original and opened on June 20th adding new features to the tradition of fun and family dining, like a 5,000 square foot arcade named the Gamers’ Garage, private dining rooms for birthday parties and events, three distinctively themed dining areas and
a full bar for adults. The Gamers' Garage works entirely on E-tickets, substantially reducing redemption operational costs. “When we decided to introduce the arcade at our new location we envisioned a greener arcade that used playcards and was completely electronic.", states Billy Anderson, Director of IT. And adds "We knew it was a big project and were very impressed with the Sacoa system and even more so with the Sacoa installation and how easy it was to use. Their team helped us through the entire process of installation and training and the system has turned out to be just what we needed, both from an operational and guest stand point.” Still another Sacoa Playcard system was set up at Space Port, at the Center City Mall, in Patterson, NJ, opening
September 1st,. The location operates Videogames, Redemption (also E-tickets operated), four Mini Bowling lanes and
party rooms.

Cover Story - Sacoa Celebrates a Half Century of Success

A company known today across the global amusement business for its innovative debit card payment technology, Sacoa Entertainment and Playcard System, got its start half a century ago as a result of a chance encounter at small coffee shop in Argentina.

Company founder Mauricio Mochkovsky was taking a break from his struggling business as a construction subcontractor in Mar del Plata, Argentina.

"His small firm with just a few employees was doing electrical, telephone, heating and air conditioning in many buildings in our home city," recalled his son and current company topper Jorge Mochkovsky. "By 1957 the situation wasn't good. Collecting the bills meant receiving new apartments as part of the payment, which he had to sell quickly and cheaply in order to obtain the cash needed to pay salaries, etc. Read more...

Cover Story - Sacoa boasts 50 years in the industry; plans for its next 50

It was 1957 when the visionary Mauricio Mochkovsky and his son Jorge started the company, operating jukeboxes and Bally bingos in bars and sports clubs in Argentina.

Later sons Alex and Ricardo joined in, and after several years of operation, bingos were banned. In 1969 the company opened its own entertainment center in Mar del Plata, which was a huge success. This was the first Sacoa family entertainment center (FEC), before the term FEC was ever used in the States.

Jorge's sons Sebastian, Pol, and Andres later joined the business, making their mark on the evolution of a company that quickly became the largest entertainment operator in the country, with over 20 centers in Argentina.

Sebastian explained that Sacoa has become a household name in Argentina, synonymous with family entertainment. Lately this is beginning to take root in other countries as well.

Virtual Cash

Sacoa,It took a little convincing, but the folks at Dave & Buster's finally came around and made the jump to a cashless system for their successful chain of bar/entertainment centers. A decade later, the rest of the amusement industry is catching on, too.
Cory Haynes, vice president of amusement operations for Dallas, Texas-based Dave & Buster's, says back in the early 1990s his company was worried about what a switch from coins to debit cards would do to its profitable business. Would the change go over well with customers? Would it be beneficial for management? Would it change the Dave & Buster's image too drastically. Read more...
